His best friend is Uchi Hiroki and during his past time, he usually hangs out with him, Jun (Arashi), Yamapi, Yasu (Kanjani8), Ohkura (Kanjani8), Jin (KAT-TUN) and Shirota Yuu.
A big fan of Leah Dizon. (Or at least he was until he met her and got embarrassed.)
He is a good cook and once cried over food. Apparently, it was too delicious.
There has been an ongoing rivalry between him and Ueda from KAT-TUN. It was said that Ryo was saying mean things to Ueda asking him what image he's going for (because Ueda often wears chains/dye his hair, etc.). Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN) asked Ryo to stop asking Ueda these questions because it hurts his feelings but Ryo still publicly questioned him. During one interview, when asked which JE he hates the most, Ryo said that he hates Ueda. Although they have made an official make-up, it's believed by some that they really haven't made up at all. There are rumors though, that all of these are scripted by JE. And contrary to popular belief, that he actually doesn't hate Ueda anymore.
Loves to tell his friends to cut their hair and bug them about it until they do. Recent 'victims' include Shige and Yamapi.
Is, according to Yoko, the one in Kanjani8 who makes most of the decisions when it comes to the group, but is by no means the leader.
He doesn't like talkative girls.
Has repeatedly made it known that he believes that Japanese people should have black hair; while his has been both brown and blonde, it has never stayed that way for long.
